So, remember how I was complaining yesterday?
Well, turns out I have nothing to complain about. I’ve just recently noticed that I have a friend here…and that friend is a big ol’ black cat named Buster. By big, I mean he’s solid. He has little flecks of white on the back of his neck, but for the most part he completely pitch dark.
He has been sneaking into my room since last night, hiding under the bed until I shut the door, and then leaping up onto the mattress to purr at me when I scold him (he’s really not supposed to be in here). Then he just curls up by the pillows until I’m settled, and suddenly right against my hip is the more suitable place to lay. He also eats anything I’m afraid of, so when a spider tries to crawl under the door, he’s on it in a second. I guess the only thing I don’t appreciate is when he tries to lick the aloe off of my healing sunburn—yeowch.

Natalie’s (my dad’s fiance) oldest son is getting increasingly curious about me. I don’t blame him, considering I was social for the first few days of my trip, was turned into a crispy critter, and the holed myself up in the guest bedroom because I was embarassed. He really thinks that I’m going to make some comments about how strange everything is over here…but none of it has really bothered me. I think I’m just in observation mode. I’ll make my comments later, I guess.
Still, I wonder how he’ll react when he finally makes the trip to America and sees how similar things are. I think that will be funny.
